Background: Carole Klein has been a practicing professional artist for over 35 years, and has an extensive background in the Arts, including graphic design, logo design, stained glass design, and courtroom drawing. As an Associate Curator of Art at Gilcrease Museum, she researched and developed art exhibitions and also wrote for related publications and for the Gilcrease Journal. She has a B.A. in Art from the University of Dallas, and expanded her education over the years by attending various seminars and workshops in painting, drawing, photography, art therapy, computer graphics, and museum disaster and recovery methods. Exhibitions: Carole has exhibited in Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, and Montana and has won awards in both the pastel medium and photography. Her work has been included in such exhibits as Central States Expo, Oklahoma Women in Art, and Oklahoma Art Workshops, Gilcrease Museum’s American Art in Miniature, and C.M. Russell Museum’s Masters in Miniature. She participated in Utica Square’s annual Art in the Square for 8 years, and other exhibitions in Lawton, Bartlesville, and other regional communities.
Art Instructor: Carole has done demonstrations and taught workshops for museums, universities, art councils, and other art organizations, in both landscape and portraiture. She has been an Artist-in-the-Schools with the Arts and Humanities Council of Tulsa. She has taught at the Leslie Powell Art Gallery in Lawton, and presented programs through the State Arts Council of Oklahoma, and Gilcrease Museum. She taught for many years at Triangle Art Supply. She has served as a judge for exhibits, including Alpha Rho Tau and Tulsa’s Mayfest. She currently teaches privately.
Collections and Galleries: Carole’s work is in many private collections in Oklahoma and other states. She has paintings in public collections including Christ the King Catholic Church in Tulsa, AVB Bank – Broken Arrow, and The Museum Broken Arrow. She accepts commissions in any genre, in pastel and oil, focusing specifically on portraiture – of people and pets, and also landscape, and still life.
