Carmen Schaar Walden was born and raised in San Diego, California and attended college at San Diego State University where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Arts and Sciences-Art with an emphasis in painting. Subsequent to graduation from San Diego State, Carmen spent time away from painting while she was raising her two sons, Craig and Sam. Her children are now grown and attend the University of Tulsa. Carmen has lived in San Diego, California; Seattle, Washington; Cheyenne, Wyoming and Tulsa, Oklahoma. Although she was not actively painting while raising her children, Carmen was busy taking photographs of the spectacular landscapes and images that she encountered at her various residences and from her numerous travels. Carmen is currently working from her extensive photo collection, predominantly in acrylic and watercolor. Carmen loves to experiment with colors and the imagery found in her photo collection allows her advance this love.
