Helen F. Howerton - Painter of animal & bird art, accepts commissions, specialty: canine portraiture.
Artist Statement: “Being a wildlife artist can be risky business”! I’ve experienced several close encounters while sketching and photographing animals in the wild. Once on a Harley with my husband in Yellowstone, a huge bull buffalo snorted and blew warning when he wanted to cross the road. He had the right-of-way so passed in front of us. Then there was the black swan incident among many others. There have been plenty of exciting, good experiences as well. I’m thankful for the opportunities to learn, first hand, the characteristics of animal behavior. Knowledge gives the wildlife I paint more ‘life’ conveyed with paint, not words.”
“Being an artist is a lifetime vocation and the blessings are numerous!”
“My biography is extensive including solo and group exhibitions in Museums and Galleries across the U.S. Original paintings have earned awards and been featured in national art publications including television features. My art is included in the OK. State Capitol Permanent Art Collection, various Museums, corporate and private collections.”
